We were pleased to have worked on the preparation of the surface facade of the Grosvenor Court building, Douglas promenade.

Lightfast Ltd were chosen by DRS to advise on the correct treatments and products for use on the conservation of this historic building facade.

The Problem

The existing paint on the facade of this building was unsuitable and needed removing in a way that was sympathetic to the restoration works and without causing harm to the underlying surface.

We came up with a repair specification to remove the existing built up layers of paint down to the bare masonry.

The Solution

The specialist Thermatech high pressure steam cleaner was used in combination with Keim STS7M paint softener; a method which is sympathetic the to underlying substrate.

This enabled the repair of the render and sympathetic restoration the front of the building.
